Zhaoping Station - Sister Ponds

Alishan is a very magical place, where you can admire thousand year-old trees and detox with some fresh mountain air. Many come for sunrise, but I couldn't wake up so early for it. There must be some good nature to enjoy during the day, right?

After a short walk to Zhaoping station, where I was too early to view the cherry blossoms in the adjacent park, I next headed downhill into the dense forest towards the Sister Ponds. This section was surprisingly empty and I had long sections of trail all to myself.

The Sister Ponds are 2 alpine ponds at over 2100m above sea level. A cypress wood pavilion offers a place of refuge to read about the tragic legend where 2 sisters fell in love with the same man and decided to die here instead of fighting over him.
