Buda Castle District (Part 3)

Buda Castle's royal palace suffered tremendous damage during World War II, and St. Stephen's Hall was completely destroyed. It originally had a Romanesque design crafted by the finest artisans in the country.

Today, the hall we see has been completely re-created following the plans, sketches, and photos that have survived. Opened to the public since 2021, it is not a big space although the admission was relatively hefty at 4900 forints. The Castle Museum also occupies the attached building and you can visit with a combined ticket costing 1000 forints more.

There is quite a lot to see in the Castle Museum, although I focused on local history and briskly walked through its many galleries.
