Budapest Photo Gallery - City Park & Heroes' Square

The grand Andrassy Avenue ends at Heroes' Square and the City Park. Perhaps the most famous attraction here for tourists is the Szechenyi Thermal Baths, which has 11 indoor thermal water pools, an outdoor thermal pool, and plenty of other amenities. The water is said to help with joint issues, and as a bonus, the setting is stunning with the yellow neo-Baroque style architecture.

I wasn't here for the medicinal baths though, so I cut across the park looking for the lake and the castle.

Vajdahunyad Castle was originally a wooden structure temporarily set up for the Millennium Exhibition of 1896, but it became popular enough that it was rebuilt in brick and stone in 1908. Celebrating a thousand years of national architecture, the designer incorporated Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles across multiple buildings.

The Hungarian Museum of Agriculture showcases an important economic sector to the country.

Heroes' Square is dominated by the 36m-high pillar with the Archangel Gabriel holding the Hungarian crown and a cross. Similar to the castle, the square was built to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Hungary's founding back in 1896. The semi-circular colonnades feature kings and people who shaped Hungary's history.
