Caerphilly Castle Aerials Photo Gallery

Caerphilly Castle is a beautiful 13th century fortress built by an English baron. It was located on the frontline but Edward I's campaign against the Welsh princes ended the castle's strategic use. In the early 14th century, the castle was altered into a grand residence, but by mid-century, the site started to fall into disrepair. Today's castle has been restored mostly by the Bute family from the late 19th century onwards, supporting the local economy through bad times. However, it also stirred controversy as some were against restoring the site but to conserve the ruins.
