Wales may be famous for its beautiful scenery, but there is enough in Cardiff to fill up a short 2-day getaway. From London, it's less than 2 hours by train to reach the Welsh capital. On offer are beautiful Victorian arcades, a mightly castle, and a regenerated waterfront.
It's hard to believe this place was once defined by coal. There was plenty of it in the area and a lot came through Cardiff for export. The port was huge and rivaled Liverpool further north. That era is long gone and today, it's a bit more laid-back with clean streets and friendly locals.
