Cardiff Market opened in 1891 with 2 shopping levels, offering fresh groceries, cooked foods, and everyday items. A market had existed on this site since the 18th century.Do make sure you head upstairs, which has a few more restaurants and the balcony wraps around the shopping pit below, giving good views of the activity. This is a good place to buy Welsh cakes. Look out for the bakery with a long line, but it does move quickly so you won't be waiting too long.
