When foreign visitors come to China, historically Beijing, Shanghai, and Guilin feature prominently on their grand tour. While Beijing has been the imperial capital for the last few dynasties, Xian (or Chang'an) was the capital for a much longer period in excess of a thousand years. In fact, the Yellow River is the cradle of Chinese civilization and served as the end of the Silk Road. Its past was glorious and some of it is now accessible to visitors, so come and spend a few days to learn more about the earlier dynasties.
