Yokohama Photo Gallery - Red Brick Warehouse

When Yokohama became a treaty port, it was just a small farming and fishing village, but soon it became Tokyo's primary port. These red-coloured buildings were built in the early 20th century as bonded warehouses to store imported goods. It had advanced features at the time with elevators and sprinklers.

The warehouses were abandoned in the late 1980s and it was luckily conserved, renovated, and now has a new use as a shopping mall.
