Yokohama has a long waterfront promenade that stretches through its entire downtown. You can technically walk from the main train station all the way to the Western residential district uphill overlooking the city. From Shinko, I had a long stroll along the bay to the Red Brick Warehouses in Akarenga Park and continued east towards Yamashita Park, passing historic buildings, Coast Guard and cruise ships along the way.
Yamashita Park was created as a memorial to the Great Earthquake, which destroyed the city in 1923.
